World AIDS Day

It is estimated that nearly 1 million people in the United States are living with HIV. Worldwide, that number grows to an astronomical 33 million people. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of HIV/AIDS Policy’s AIDS.gov have collaborated to share information with the blogging community on World AIDS Day, December 1.

So much research and numerous drug trials have been completed, and every single one puts us one step closer to solving this global crisis. Drugs now exist to prolong the life of those living with HIV and AIDS, allowing individuals to live fulfilling lives. AIDS is not the death sentence it once was. This is because of increased awareness of HIV + AIDS, the money that has been raised and the kindness of humanity to step up and do something about this.

I encourage you to check out the aids.gov website to learn more. And please, spread the word. Knowledge is power!
